It ain’t over yet

October 23rd, 2008

A number of gun owners I’ve talked to lately have all but thrown in the towel on the election. I just don’t believe Obama has as big of a lead as they papers say. In part, because the papers say it.

Some (including people in the media) claim the media generally give the Democratic candidate up to a 15% advantage in pre-election polling. I don’t know that I buy that number, but I do not think it’s insignificant. And, by emphasizing polls where Obama has done better and downplaying or ignoring polls where he hasn’t, the cumulative effect in the last couple of weeks is fairly big.

The fact that some polls show the race to be neck-and-neck (see A glimmer of hope for GOP?) and that Pennsylvania is still in play says to Murdoc that McCain not only has a prayer, but that he has a solid chance.

The name of the game is demoralize McCain supporters into not bothering to stick with their guy and stay home on election day. We all know this. So why does it seem to be working so well on so many people who should know better?
