I hadn’t heard about this beast:

Im chung-bin the the chief of staff of ROKA examines new South korean double barreled rifle K-11 in ground weapon conference.2008.11.11 Daejeun South korea This rifle uses 20mm airburst ammunition and 5.56mm NATO. 20mm launcher operates as bolt action and use 5 round mag. This weapon will be fielded in next year.
The K11 has more than a passing resemblance to the shelved XM-29 OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon). And the general’s right hand is on what appears to be the grenade magazine, not the pistol grip.
Who’s taking bets about whether it’s “fielded in the next year”?

I’d hate to be the guy that has to lug that thing around. Why do they need to make the optics so large? They look bigger than even the original starlight scopes.

Knowing the South Koreans? They might field it this year.
But I agree, the optics are nuts.

If it’s the same type as the OICW the optic includes a video camera, range finder/target designator and fire control computer which programs the 20mm round to detonate at a certain distance.

Check out the HK Pro page- the optic on the first firing model was half the size.

Why it needs a video camera built in I don’t know.
From the pic posted it seems that the big difference between the Korean and US version is that the K11 doesn’t appear to be a “break apart” weapon. Looks like you can’t ditch the 20mm component. That’ll be handy when the guy carrying it has to go and clear a building.
More images and video of it here-
