Maybe if the city wasn’t fencing stolen property for greater than market value

December 10th, 2008

…there wouldn’t be so much demand for stolen firearms.

MostlyGenius:

Creating an incentive for criminals to steal guns, use them in crimes, and then dispose of the evidence at a profit is just stupid.

But LA County Sherrif’s Deputy Tim Tellez says disagrees completely:

“We’re not naive enough to think that criminals will come in and give their guns,” Tellez said. But he said that because many crimes were committed with firearms stolen in home burglaries, getting guns off the street would help decrease violence.

He says that criminals won’t give up their guns, which means that he thinks people who do give them up are not criminals. So getting guns out of homes is the same as getting them “off the street”? That’s what he’s saying.

They also collected two hand grenades at the turn in. Were those just “stolen in home burglaries”?
