Schools locked down as police hunt cop-killers
CNN:
Police are hunting for suspects in the killings of two off-duty police officers early Wednesday as they worked security at an apartment complex near Atlanta, Georgia.
“We do know that there were at least two people involved, and we did have some witnesses that were able to give us some accounts that really, really will help us along,” DeKalb County Police Chief Terrell Bolton told CNN.
Six county schools are on lockdown as police search for the suspects, a school spokesman said…
Bolton told CNN the officers were not only trying to supplement their salaries by doing the off-duty work, but also trying to improve the neighborhood.
Private security contractors. Though Blackwater gets all the attention for some controversial incidents in Iraq, it’s important to remember that private security firms are all around us every day. That won’t make everyone feel better, but it’s a fact.
And if the local police had been keeping this apartment complex safe, would the place have felt it needed to hire contractors?
The private security contractor issue is a lot more complex than most folks think.
