AG Eric Holder: Probably not a 'goon' by the dictionary definition.
Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban
Murdoc’s been real busy, so he’s not really been able to keep up with all the news reports and dig into this. But it sure sounds like the “maybe a new AWB” comment out of AG Holder the other day wasn’t just idle talk:
“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder told reporters.
You know, we were all treated to a long, line of “But Obama isn’t going to take anyone’s guns” mularkey for months. Not that any of us believed a word of it, but all those folks were either ignorant or lying. (Okay, technically they could have been both…)
Where are all those people. They were on this site commenting. They were on all the other sites commenting. They were writing crap about “look at all the scared gun owners getting their panties in a bunch because of Obama…what a bunch of rubes” and “the rising gun sales have nothing whatsoever to do with the election of Obama.”
One guy I know, an attorney who holds many views that seem to be a few points to the left of mine, asked how the gun writing was going and what had I written lately. I told him my most recent column had been about Barrack Obama’s record on guns and why that was causing people to distrust the guy on gun control. The attorney was surprised to hear that anyone had concerns about Obama’s record on guns. Really.
At first I thought he was goofing around a bit, but I finally decided that he wasn’t. This guy, someone who seems to be pretty much in tune with political news and social issues, someone who is an intelligent person who usually has pretty good insight into what’s going on and what it means, had NO IDEA WHATSOEVER that anyone was concerned about Obama’s record on gun control.
That’s not even the same as dismissing folks who are concerned because Obama told someone that he wasn’t going to take anyone’s guns. This guy didn’t even know that there were folks who were concerned.
And suddenly were all supposed to be shocked (shocked!) that this goon Attorney General Holder thinks maybe the so-called “assault weapons” should be banned?
Here’s what the goon Attorney General had to say about why a new AWB would help people:
“Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades,” the warning said. “Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez.”
Even goons know that AWBs, old and new alike, don’t ban any automatic weapons and grenades. Goons say things like that though, when they want to mislead you.
So, I continue to be mystified by all the Obama supporters. Were they stupid? Or just lying?

I read a story that Obama reads 10 letters a day from us citizens. While I’m sure every one of those letters is properly screened before it ever gets to him, if enough of us “gun nuts” were to write him it’s entirely possible one of us might get through, and maybe, just maybe we could appeal to him using reason and logic to show him how absurd the idea that having less guns in the arms of law abiding citizens is a good idea.

We were neither stupid not lying. Some of us, at least, thought that Obama was a sufficiently savvy politician and student of recent history to realize that an attempt to pass a new AWB would be a horrible position for the Democrats. Democratic successes in the West were predicated on pretty much abandoning gun control efforts, so it seemed fair to say that whatever Obama’s personal views, he wouldn’t waste political capital on this.
Apparently we were wrong.

N: The “we were neither stupid not [sic] lying” defense won’t work.
The change.gov site and then the new whitehouse.gov site both clearly stated that reinstating an AWB and making it permanent were part of the policy plan.
Plain as day. (Well, except for that week or so when it disappeared without comment and then was put back up without comment.)
Many many folks, myself included, pointed this out many many times.
I got a lot of “listen to what he said…he said he wouldn’t do it. He’s not lying.” to which I responded “read what he wrote…he said he would do it. He’s got to be lying in one of the cases.”
Anyone who says they didn’t know was either ignorant or willfully uninformed. Anyone who knew and said he wouldn’t do it was either lying or willfully ignoring the guy’s record.
Stupid or lying. I said what I meant and I stand by it.

It looks like the O-bots will also have to ban gasoline and glass bottles and they make dandy molotov cocktails. Of course, they’ll have to ban ammonia, chlorine, and all sorts of other things too.
The coming civil war IS going to be a shooting war. The O-bots know this, and that’s why they want to disarm their opposition. We’ll find out how that will work soon.

He’s a lawyer and a professional politician, how can someone like that be even remotely savvy and a student of any history? Obama has proven to know nothing about history and his competence, well… I wouldn’t hire him to lead a dog across the street. Fact is, just listening to his neo-communist crap during the campaign made me go “Whoa! Wait a second! That guy is NUTS.”
I’m European, and I didn’t jump on the “HEIL OBAMA!” train that’s still going around in Europe. Why? Because I’m a liberal. Not like Obama, Pelosi or the rest of those traitors. No, they are not liberals anyway. Gun-grabbib, tax hikes, nanny state, public health care, that has nothing to do with classic liberalism. That’s neo-communism. Liberty and freedom above all, that’s liberalism. I’ve been facepalming so often in the past few weeks, it’s not even remotely funny.
And now this.
Again Obama shows that he’s ultimately, either a retard, or one of the most ruthless bastards in the Oval Office ever. I’ve come to the conclusion that Obama cares only about one thing: Obama. America? Screw it. Freedom? Forget it.
Now, here’s my take on the assault weapon ban.
The term “assault weapon” makes me cringe. I mean, what the? What about assault axes? Assault knives? Or… assault cars? I can use almost anything as a weapon and I can assault people with almost anything. Obama’s speech on the issue was… stupid. Banning those semi-automatic replicas won’t change anything. I know that getting a real automatic assault rifle legally in the US is hard right now anyway (if not impossible in some states). So what’s the point of that ban? There is none. It’s pointless. Another pile of crap from the Great Chairman Obama.
An “assault weapon” ban won’t do anything. Criminals will continue to carry real AK-47s if they want to. Why? Because criminals usually don’t go into a gun shop and buy their guns there. They steal them. They smuggle them into the country.
I can get a real AK-47 here in Austria. No, not legally of course. Such weapons are banned here. But I can get them from the organized crime. I can go to Russia and smuggle this stuff into my country. There have been incidents among the organized crime here in Austria, where the criminal gangs fought each other with hand grenades and RPGs. Now law can prevent that, because criminals… and here comes the big surprise (not, not really)… don’t give a damn about laws.
The only way to prevent that is: secure the damn borders.
Is it a shock that Obama’s now riding the Clinton Train on this? No, not for me. Obama is not a liberal. He’s just another neo-commie and a professional liar.
The only thing that saddens me is that the Americans are as stupid as the majority of the Europeans and thus fell for his neo-communist rhethoric.

So, American’s should lose 2nd Amendment rights because the U.S. hasn’t been vigilant about protecting its border (and the Mexican government isn’t interested in protecting its border)doesn’t make sense to me. I saw a story (if you click my name it goes to the story) and something like 90% of the weapons used by these cartels come from the U.S. I think that closing the gun show loophole is the most we can do to fix this. These cartels are becoming more and more violent, closer and closer to the border, seems like a good reason for Americans to keep their weapons. Using Mexico as a justification is just a thinly veiled attempt to take guns from Americans, but if anything it is just more of a justification for U.S. citizens to keep said weapons.
