‘Trying to figure out why’
Sheriff Investigators are trying to figure out why Los Osos’ resident Chris Saletta shot 18-year-old Nicole Galvez in the arm.
Here’s a summary of the incident that led to the shooting:
According to Saletta, Galvez plowed her PT Cruiser through Saletta’s fence and into the backyard of his home on the 2000 block of Sombrero Road. Saletta says, he awoke to find Galvez driving her car wildly through his back yard and he was forced to shoot her because he thought she would crash her car into his children’s bedroom.
Saletta told investigators, the female driver of of the Cruiser collided with a water well pump, ran over his kids bikes and hit the rear porch support to his home. Saletta called 911 to report the rampage then armed himself and tried to approach Galvez.
According to Saletta, Galvez refused to get out of her car and continued to drive towards Saletta’s home. Saletta said, fearing for his families safety, he then fired one round from a .22 caliber rifle through the passenger side of the car. He told investigators he fired the shot because Galvez was headed straight for his children’s bedroom.
The Cruiser came to an abrupt stop after Saletta fired the shot. [emphasis Murdoc's]
Really, any of the bolded parts explain the ‘why Los Osos’ resident Chris Saletta shot 18-year-old Nicole Galvez‘ issue, don’t they? Unless the facts are greatly different than the story presented here, the ‘why’ is clear.
I guess the legality of it remains to be seen, but that’s a different issue. The ‘why’ is easy.

Figuring out “Why?” isn’t easy for a reporter. Most seem to be functionally retarded.
I’m sure the police investigators know what is going on and why … they are simply doing their job and making sure the victim’s story matches what actually happened.
Los Osos is in California if I am not mistaken?? The guy will be lucky if those socialist bastards out there don’t charge HIM!!
In Texas he could have hit center mass and been thought a hero!!
The case is no different than if this doofus was walking down the street firing randomly in all directions and Mr. Saletta fired back only when the gun was pointed at him or his home. An automobile is a weapon capable of deadly force. Some years ago, my training officer successfully defended a guy who ran down some guy shooting at him. Mr. Saletta would need a really lame lawyer to lose this one. OBTW, the driver is liable for the damages to Mr. Saletta’s property.
Hmmmmm, too bad he didn’t plant one in the Mark I braincase instead. On my property, heading for my children, at the helm of a 2000lb. bullet, yep, headshot. Kalifornia will probably charge the poor guy.
