Hey guys I am thinking of buying this EBR system I am torn between this system and the JEA system both seem pritty smooth. I would like some true tangible feedback I have some concerns about the EBR collapsable rail system "is it durable it seems suseptible to damage"? or should I go with the tube set up, however I like the adjustable cheed and I don't think the tube design offers that can I get some help here? Thanks

That is`a M14EBR-RI built by TACOM RI, they are shipping out approximately 300 per month.
Read more about these enhanced battle rifles on The M14HDW Forum.

As half of mine did not post, I will try again.

Jeff, I was in the 101st during the 1959 to 1962 time frame.

For six years before then, I was in the N.G. and/or Active Army Reserves. Attended Adv. NCO School at Ft. Benning while in the N.G. While there, I got to fire many different weapons. I LOVED it! )

Yep Troy, you are correct, while we carried less total weight, I doubt those today would change places with us and our NO armor.

A little ridiculous to call today's soldiers "WIMPS" based on them making the very true observation that compared to their issued battle rifle, the M14 is indeed very heavy. Factor in the ammo also weighing more, and add on top of that the fact that today's soldier carries the added burden of fighting in body armor often in mountainous terrain, and you can see where weight is a very real factor. In the days the US Army was still carrying M1's and BARs, the individual infantryman's load was also significantly lighter and less restrictive. Just an observation.

the comment from nadnerbus. my index finger was pushed up against the safety, so if i had to take it off safe my finger was already there. like on an m4 were ur thumb would always be on the safety. and nowhere in the army have i seen people walk around with there finger on the trigger if it was on safe. safety's can fail or get get bumped and have a negligent discharge. that shot heard was far away and wasn't really a threat to us as far as we could tell.

The M14 EBR is a fine weapon system, with today's techonology built onto a classic heavy hitting weapon, the chasis of the weapon is mostly cosmetic, while reducing weight.

I myself am in the process of gaining possession of one and when I do, I'm going to use it to the extent of it's full potential at my three gun matches. Like one of the posters, I've fired the BAR, M-1-Garand, M16 series, and M4 series.

Nothing hits like a 7.62mm round and it stops the advesary. The 5.56mm although deadly, doesn't cause the significant damage needed to drop a bad guy.

In today GWOT, we have to remember, put the right weapon in the right hands and you've got a killing machine dealing justice with extreme prejudice.

Our men and women in today's military deserve weapons like this to engage and destroy our enemies.

I just Obama will back them up instead of raping their budgets.

M-14 Heavy?

I guess some todays are WIMPS as I carried M 1's, and M-14's with NO problem. Now the BAR was a little heavy, it was one damn fine weapon.
