AWB ‘Not Dead’

April 20th, 2009

Spotted at Alphecca:

White House senior adviser David Axelrod said on Sunday that a new ban on assault-style weapons is not “dead,” but now is not the time to push it in Congress.

My. How reassuring.

Sounds a bit like the “Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress” statement from Obama during the campaign…meaning that things might change if the votes come around in the future.

Don’t pretend for one minute that the AWB won’t be back on the shortlist the moment that the administrations feels it is the time to “push it in Congress.”

I’m still wondering when those nasty assault knives will be banned. And those assault axes and bats, not to mention those really bad assault cars.

It’s so stupid. Then again… politicians… what do I expect.

They’re certainly laying the groundwork with all the talk about American guns in Mexico. I reckon it will come sooner rather than later.

Just as they used the banking crisis and resultant recession to implement massive social policies which could never have been implemented otherwise, they will exploit any emergency/crisis (maybe mexican drug cartel actions?) to do the same with massive anti-gun policies if we let them.
