John Donovan answers Why guns? Why shoot? What’s the appeal?

UPDATE: The one who asked the question doesn’t like any of the answers John or anyone else gave and adds

As a non-gun user, I don’t see the attraction. I don’t know why anyone would want to learn how to use a gun, or perfect that skill, for any reason other than killing or defense. And apparently, asking why did you learn how to fire a gun makes everyone around here quite defensive about that decision. Defensive postures indicate you feel threatened by my question- which is all the more reason to explore your answer.

A lot of folks have given variations on “it’s fun,” but that apparently isn’t good enough for her.
