Oklahoma Troopers Stop Ambulance

June 15th, 2009

I posted on this story about an altercation between Oklahoma state troopers and an ambulance driver a couple of weeks back. Suddenly GunPundit is getting all sorts of hits from search engines on the topic. What happened to spark the sudden interest?

Click HERE to see the video.

UPDATE: Dasboard video from the trooper’s cruiser is now available.

AP ran a story on it that may have renewed some interest.

  2. Nadnerbus Says:

Saw a link over on Fark the other day following up on this too. Linked to this story. Oak. Highway Patrol release dash-cam footage It pretty much confirms what the cell phone video points to. The trooper was a prick that was more worried about people respecting his authority than he was with safety, fairness, or reason. I mean, we all have our days where we lose our cool, fly off the handle a little bit. But usually we realize we fucked up and apologize. And don’t grab a paramedic by the throat for defying us.

Guy’s on paid leave. Should be canned if the world was fair.

  3. Bram Says:

Both videos show a complete lack of curiosity and concern for the patient in the ambulance. I can’t imagine how a man becomes such a self-centered douche.

  4. Thomas Fierro Says:

To bad the Trooper wasn’t black…He wouldn’t ever think of being a prick. Poor oppressed black people..

  5. Nadnerbus Says:

What the hell does that have to do with race? This would be just as asinine if you shuffled the race of all the participants any way you wanted. And I doubt the cop was preoccupied by it either. He was purely juiced up and pissed off, and let it cloud his judgment. The EMT trying to talk some reason into him just pissed him off more. Who was this guy to question his authority?

The whole situation should never have taken place. And that it did, and further escalated to the point it did, shows exactly the failure of the trooper to do his job. Its too bad he’s a Navy Iraq vet. I hope he did his job with more professionalism while he was in the sandbox.

  6. jtlrn Says:

Well I guess that trooper will have plenty of time to think about his actions while his jobless ass is sitting at home talking to himself !

  7. Mr Scott Says:

That move was TOTALLY unprofessional, to say the least. That incident was all about the Trooper’s ego and everybody bow down to my authority. I was absolutely shocked to see them head off the ambulance for what I deemed as bullshit. I wonder though, would that Trooper would have kept them there if the female patient was unconcious? It seems as though after he heard the female patient speaking he continued with his little tirade. And why was the paramedic supposed to yield to him if the ambulance crew were running lights and siren. Does he not know what that means? I work in emergency services and have never seen this type of (un)professional courtesy. Officers like him make it more dangerous for Law Enforcement Officials who really care about the public. I plan to become a Louisiana State Trooper but, things like this make me a target and I haven’t done anything wrong.

  8. thetruth Says:

MR. FIERRO WHAT THE FUCK R U TALKING ABOUT U R A FUCKING IDIOT WHAT U MISSED WAS THE BLACKMAN CAME TO THE AID OF THE WHITEMAN THAT WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING THE AMBULANCE IF U WATCH THE ENTIRE TAPE U WILL HEAR THE BLACKMAN TELL THE OFFICER DONT DISRESPECT MY DRIVER LIKE THAT THE OFFICER WAS BELITTLING THE WHITEMAN WHO WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING THE AMBULANCE AND THE BLACKMAN CAME TO HIS AID SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT YOU STUPID FUCKING RACIST BETTER YET U SHOULD KILL YOURSELF THE WORLD WOULD B A BETTER PLACE

  9. rowdy1 Says:

All I can say is that the tropper caused the escalation by his use of foul language IMMEDIATELY to both men in the ambulance. It was very unprofessional how he handled himself in this situation. He needs counseling to learn to comtrol his rage and anger issues. When the husband of the patient spoke up, he too was belittled. Siren or no siren, if a ambulance has a patient on board and is transporting to a hospital, the trooper should have yielded the right of way. I heard the ambulance attendant refer to the fact that the tropper came up on them quickly…where is THAT portion of the video to prove or reject that issue? And I noticed no oncoming traffic, so if the tropper was on a call and in a hurry, why did he just not hit the siren and lights and PASS the ambulance in the first place. I say the tropper was out of line in this case and I think the video PROVES it. It is not a case of race, it is a case of poor judgement!

  10. Rbbie craig Says:

This is clearly a case of an out of control bully with a badge.
Cops wonder why people feel the way the do about cops, its because there are too many of these idiots out there with a badge and a gun.
Secondly, an OKLAHOMA cop…go figure. I deal with Okies all the time and there are some pretty stupid excuses for human beings down there.

  11. fired-up Says:

I am wondering what kind of back-up call the officer was responding to? I’d hate to be a guy needing help with some situation, and this jerk decides his feelings were hurt and stops an ambulance! He not only was wrong to stop the ambulance, but he ignored the call for back-up!!!

  12. Opioniated Says:

Troopers ego? Lawyers ego defending what he did? Both sharks go figure

  13. pololo1 Says:

Simply flipping the lights on would have resolved this issue. God forbid if drug trafficers ever found out that cops can’t stop ambulances.

  14. GunPundit » Blog Archive » More on the State Trooper who Stopped the Ambulance Says:

[...] Also, lots of comments here. [...]

  15. Peter Stricker Says:

As always some nut cop has the biggest ego and wants all to bow down. I have seen too many cops do stupid and unsafe things and believe they can get away with it. If he had just spoken to the driver in a nice way this would not have happened. All these guys and women have egos to feed, and it is getting worse. You should all come to NJ and drive Rt. 287 and watch the state troopers sit in the bushes doing nothing and I mean nothing. You can drive 90mph, text message, eat, read the paper and they just sleep or whatever. Last you have their family members and friends who are given those windshied plaques and they believe they can act and get away with the same type of behavior.

  16. Josh Says:

Glad the Paramedic showed the trooper that he was not in charge. What makes him think he is in charge of every scene just cause he’s a cop. I do have to blame the medic driving because I work in EMS and never would have pulled over. This could have been handled at the hospital after patient care was turned over to the ER. Hope the trooper looses his job and spends time in jail for interfering with the duties of an ambulance crew (hope thats a charge in Ok like it is in La) and battery on an EMS crew.

  17. Nad Says:

Saw the video. That trooper is an egomaniacal piece of crap. What if the woman in the back of the ambulance died while pulled over? Then what? I normally respect ALL public servants (cops, fire, EMS)however, this guy better get off the steriods, they’ve gone to his head and affected his tiny little brain. My daughter is an EMT, and they put up with enough crap for shitty pay. Cops are there to assist in medical situations, not to stop the progress of life saving!

  18. Carolyn Says:

There is no question after watching the video, this trooper should not have a job dealing with people…period…what else has he already done and gotten away with if he is bold enough to pull over an ambulance. I NEVER heard the trooper ask one time if the ambulance had a patient, but I heard him use a lot of foul language and threats. The Oklahoma Patrol should be embarrassed to have him as one of them.

  19. Shelley Says:

The officer was totally out of line and acting in an unprofessional manner. He needs to be kept off the streets until they get him into counseling and give him an attitude adjustment.

  20. Tony Says:

That cock suckin cop is just like the rest of the cops around the us and think they are gods or some shit and they need to be punch in the fuckin mout I know that if I was that paramedic it would’ve been done and not just once I wouldve fucked him up permenatly this comming for myself that is in the military and has alot or respect for people in that job but there are too many out there that are on a fucking power trip and need to be put in their place!!!

  21. Cindy Says:

the moral of this story is Dont ever do anything stupid. Coz youll never live it down. the press, will surely have a hay day with this cops stupidity! What about the poor victom in the back of the ambulance?” Does anyone care that there was a sick person that needed help? law suit law suit law suit!!!

  22. david Says:

sounds like there are some personal issues involved. invesigate them both, identify the root problem and prescribe an intellegent solution.

  23. mark mink Says:

the cops ego got in the way of common sence if he had a back up call he should have went to it. If not then he should have followed the ambulance to the the er. he needs to be gotten rid of hes not a good enought man to be a state tropper. he gives other cops bad names and there are a bunch off cops out there just like him. I know this to be a fact.

  24. debt relief Says:

cops have too many power rushes. i hate them and they dont deserve to wear the badge

  25. Ben Says:

Every week I’m seeing cops abuse their power ON CAMERA and they get very disrespectful if someone question their authority. This officer was bold enough to pull over an ambulance and verbally abuse two professionals with a patient in the back of the vehicle. This Trooper did this knowing that his dash cam was on the entire time. I can only imagine what this so called “officer of the law” has done, or would do to a poor black, white ,or Latin kid who is uneducated and don’t know their rights, when he is not in the view of a camera. This is only the tip of the ice burg. This happens to the poor and uneducated all the time but the camera is off. This is why people in the hood don’t like or help cops.

  26. C.B. Says:

People in the hood dont like cops? I dont think ANYONE likes them. The vast majority are insecure, judgemental, napoleonic pricks who probably got their buts kicked in school and now feel the need to “get back” at everyone.

  27. BigAl Says:

That police officer was abusing his powers and interfered with a possible life threatening situation. He had no right to stop the ambulance. Who knows if he got flipped off or not. He should have been arrested and charged with a false arrest and battery.

  28. D W Roling Says:

    The trooper needs a beating.

  29. sierrasam Says:

This behavior and use of language by any law officer is unxeceptable no matter what his history good or bad, he was the root of the problem and is in need of serious counceling and if that does not keep him form behaving like this again then he should be fired and his military superior should also have him checked for mental stability. If this is a result of him being placed back on patrol too soon after serving over seas then he needs a long leave of absense what if this had been just some poor average citizen that he decided to take out his wrath on.

  30. carole anne Says:

Easy now-there’s alot of “over-the-top” reactions to this one. I’m married to an awesome guy who just happens to have 20 years of service with he Oklahoma Highway Patrol. There’s hardly anyone who has a bad word to say about this guy-except maybe some of the repeat offenders that he’s arrested. Yeah, I agree, that this trooper in question could have handled the situation much better-but please, don’t go slamming all Okie troopers-we’ve got some pretty hip, hard-working guys in my area that any state would be proud to have. My husband’s job is not a safe or easy one-could you pull dead children out of cars, hold the hand of a dying teenager as she gurgles her last breath, or sift through the rubble of the Oklahoma federal building looking for bodies? Everytime an Oklahoma trooper pulls someone over for speeding, he/she has to worry if the car is a traveling meth lab! Every trooper loses comrads to domestic violence altercations, drug raids, hit and runs, high speed chases, etc. Give ‘em a brake-when you needs one, they’re important to you then!

  31. Mcfly Says:

and of course the officer was cleared of any wrong doing….bullshit, if that were anybody else, they would be in jail. if that was my mom in the ambulance id knock the fucker out and deal with the consequences later. the cop is not the “almighty” im so sick of the ” i have a badge you must do what I say bullshit” I see cops hit the lights and siren just to make it through a fucking stop light…… what consequenses do they face, leave with pay?!?! what a joke, why dont they just say we gave him a vacation.

  32. Harry Says:

It just goes to show the typical ego trip that most cops are on.

  33. Mike Habicht Says:

Just watch how the police union will stick up for this cop, (or any cop)! They don’t care at all for the public safety . They always protect the cop no matter that he is an insane prick !The only way to sort out the bad cops is to sue the agencies they work for – a few fat multi-million dollar judgements against the states , counties, and towns will work wonders in getting the voter’s attention.

  34. Steve Says:

Well, being a police officer I was initially disturbed by this case. But now having seen the whole video with the ambulance NOT having it’s emergency lights on travelling with the flow of traffic, making it just another vehicle on the road the ambulance should have pulled over to the side of the road IMMEDIATLY upon seeing the cruiser behind it WITH it’s emergency lights on, responding to an emergency. The patient must not have been in much distress if they didn’t need lights and sirens to rush to the hospital. Mr. White was at fault for interfering with the Police Officer in the performance of his duty. Despite Whites claim that he was in charge of the vehicle, he was NOT in control of the vehicle, that responsibilty belongs to the driver of the vehicle not the passenger, which White was a passenger of. If anybody should be suspended for their actions it should be Paramedic White for not doing his job as being the individual responsible for the patients care and for interfering with a police officer in the performance of thier duty.

  35. MORGAN Says:

SOUNDS LIKE COP HAS A POWER-CONTROL ISSUE. MAYBE HE SHOULD CONCIDER ANOTHER LINE OF WORK BEFORE SOMEONES DIES.

  36. Harry Says:

Steve and I guess that you know the procedures of the ambulance drivers. By the video do you know the condition of the patient??? Do you go up to a driver and use that kind of language??? I have no respect for that cop and he should be FIRED just as I would if I talked to someone like that at my job. Most cops are just too cocky. They Have to police themselves better.

  37. jim Says:

well its not surprising to see other cops or spouses of cops come and defend this douchebag of a human. the badge should be a symbol of respect. instead in instills fear. so yeh thanx to all the good cops! if their are any?

  38. scotty Says:

Man that cop is an a$$hole. His parents must be living in shame for giving birth to such an a$$hlole.

  39. scotty Says:

From the video, there was absolutely no reason for that cop to stop the ambulance.

  40. azbrian Says:

the cop was wrong, end of story. the ems crew should never have been pulled over and the cops should be fired by the department and then sued by the familt of the patient who was delayed in receiving proper care. i hope the cop is sued and loses everything. this type of facist crap is pathetic. maybe the other OK troopers should get tohether and throw this cop a beathing because he made them all look like brainless, egotistical thugs.

  41. Roger Says:

Being a Olkahoma State Trooper says it all. Don’t let them out of state for any reason.

  42. allen Says:

Rbbie craig , your comment about oklahomans, i’m one, and resent being categorized for some other person’s mistake.that trooper was very wrong in what he did i agree, so that makes us stupid excuses for human beings???? maybe people making comments such as yours should also be included in the group of people of which you speak!!

  43. Rich Says:

There is no doubt life is tough for some people, the cops supposed to protect people in this case was he trying to make sure the ambulance didn’t run into another car and hurt people. I think before he tried to make the driver respect him, he should have thought about the person in the back of ambulance. Police are trained to handle all types of situations, if they don’t things can get out of control. I don’t think he should loose his job or everything he owns because of what happened. I am sure there are plenty of heroic things he has done or people he has helped during his time on the force. People don’t always make the right decisions even cops.

  44. Paul Says:

Only In OK. could a cop get away with this kin of blatant disrespect for his “public dependent” profession. I am retired LT. Col U.S. Marines after 22 years. I think Mr. Trooper needs to get his posterior relocated to the security patrol at the city dump. The “DEPT” which hired this shit for brains needs to throw all kinds of appologies towards the Medical personnel.

  45. WAYNE Says:

if the ambulance in the dash cam video dint have it’s lights on then why did the white car get off the road to let the ambulance pass, also the ambulance driver was paying attention to the car in front of it pulling off of the road and tried to avoid hitting it didnt realise the officer was as close as he was, but then immediately pulled over to get out of the officers way, people I for one am sick of the police/gestapo/kgb running roughshod over the people of this country, they think they are above the law. In arizona there was a cop that shot a woman in the back as she drove away from him after trting to pass a fake prescription at a pharmacy. he was tried, and found not guilty, but when he tried to get his job back the police department had a specialist come forward and said he was in the wrong and shouldn’t have shot her, so he didnt get his job back. where was this witness during his trial? no doubt he was taking up for some other cop /criminal

  46. WAYNE Says:

to carole anne, because of the way this so called officer acted the next time an officer needs an ambulance will one be available or conveniently get lost or break down?

  47. WAYNE Says:

hey steve you are another example of cover for the other cop, even when he’s in the wrong. as far as im concerned most cops are only on the police forces because they were not caught before they became officers.

  48. Sarah Says:

Yes the ambulance didn’t have their lights on but that doesn’t mean a patient isn’t on board. As ALL POLICE “should” know is that ambulances don’t use their lights and sirens for ALL runs just TRUE emergencies unlike the police they run theirs to get through rush hour traffic!!! Please get this so called officer off the force before he kills someone for jay walking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. chuck Says:

I have been a medic for 30 years, and can’t believe the way this played out. Steve, you obviously DON’T know much about EMS protocals or chain of command. If the senior crew member is in the back “HE IS” in charge of that unit. As far as not having the lights and sirens on, unless the patient is critical (i.e. cardiac arrest) most transports are done without them on. This doesn’t mean they have time to screw around either. When the officer was informed of the patient, he should have allowed them to finish the transport, and dealt with the situation at the hospital. I have a lot of respect for cops, but they are NOT always right, and this guy was way out of line.

  50. Joey Says:

    1. Since when is it against the law to “flip a bird”, supposing the driver did flip the cop off?
    2. If the cop was running 10-18 then why did he take the time to stop the ambulance? That alone should be enough to put him behind a desk. I wouldn’t want to be on a police force with someone who would make a traffic stop en route to giving me back up!
    3. If the ambulance wasn’t running lights or sirens then why did the car in the dash cam pull over ahead of the ambulance?
    4. The cop wanted respect, and was mad because he thought he had been “flipped off” yet he didn’t show an ounce of respect for anybody on the scene once he stepped out of the car. What an arrogant butt. “Do as I say do don’t do as I do”.
    5. I do hope he is fired or re-assigned to desk duty or something else besides dealing with the public. He knew the dash cam was running yet still acted unprofessionally, which tells me that he didn’t think his actions were unwarranted. Probably has acted like this on scene several times before, but this time was caught on a cell phone camera so his dash cam footage was published to hopefully vindicate him. Big mistake. It just proved that he is a jerk and has no business patrolling our nation’s roads in any state.
    6. Why did they grab Mr. White by the throat. Were they trying to prove who had the biggest Cahunas? I didn’t see Mr. White pull a crowbar or anything else out. The ambulance should have just stayed en route to the hospital. But who knows, Officer Douchebag probably would have shot out their tires or threw a stop-strip.
    7. If you’re a cop or related to someone who is, call a spade a spade. After watching this footage deep down in your heart you have to know the officer was wrong, and if you don’t then you need to do a little soul-searching of your own. Maybe you don’t need to be patrolling the streets either.

  51. FFmedic1711 Says:

Carole Anne, I have been a career Firefighter/Paramedic for 22 years. I cannot sit here and allow the excuse “My husband’s job is not a safe or easy one-could you pull dead children out of cars, hold the hand of a dying teenager as she gurgles her last breath,” There are alot of great officers out there YES. BUT who do you think they call when they are holding that hand??? Or when that building is on fire and a family is inside that we have to save. More than dozens of times I have pulled up to scenes to see the “men in blue” puking their guts out because they could not handle what the scene looks like. But this arrogent cop felt like being on a power trip so he pulls over an ambulance for what may or maynot have been getting flipped off. This officer is a danger to EVERY persons safety on every scene.. If he is going to get this angry about that who is he going to shoot for spitting on him? It happens almost everyday in urban settings. A public servant Has to be moe than above average in intellegence and patience to deal with stressfull situations. You have to have tough skin and above all you have to remain calm at all times. This man is abviously past his usefullness in public service. I hear Walmart is hiring greeters. That is wher he needs to go.

A 22 yr veteren of fire and EMS that respects all services but not those that serve inappropriatly.

  52. Rick Says:

Having been in ems for 15 years and having been a cop, the officer was out of control. It’s cops like him that need to find another job. We don’t need cop’s with anger that he can’t control.

  53. TOM Says:

This guy should not have a gun and a badge. I agree with all the people that think this guy was wrong and should not be a cop, and should not be giving good cops a bad name.

  54. Turner1 Says:

Over all I feel there was much more going on before the stop occured, meaning that I do not think there was a emergency but more of a fear of getting a ticket then a made up story using the mother as a tactic to avoid being in trouble. I am not sure why it took so long for them to stop other than they had something to hide or they were getting the story together. no matter how you look at it not one of you could continue on without being spoken to firmly and not one of you would not refrain from speaking firmly if the shoes were reversed. myself I did not see any lights on, nor did I see the mother in distress. What I seen was what looked to be a cover up by all the parties to force the officers hand into giving in and letting it go. That just means that they placed in effect a great con game and used every trick to avoid legal proscution. My guess is that the persons avoiding any ticket or issue had something to lose if that person would of been given a citation or mabey had more to hide then we would know about. I have no doubt that this was an attempt to reverse the problem from themselves to the officer’s.
We all see the same actions done where ever there is trouble such as ballparks, malls, gatherings, they always throw out other issues to get the attention off them and reverse it to someone else. Since more people are becomming more and more like this of course they will favor the law breaker more than the law keeper, it would be in the best interrest for the glory of law breakers. Every one of you has come up to someone who you feel you had jutified reasons to be upset or mad and later think mabey I could of done it better but at the time you did it you were working of what you had to work off of at the time it occured. Again reverse the shoes, be in the officers shoes and think what could be going on instead of what you think should be going on… remember he did not have the video and someone talking him through it when they finally stopped, instead he had to calm down people and get information that looked to me to be hard to get since people were working on being evasive and not cooperative. All you have to do is think about it from the start and place yourself in the troopers shoes. For some of you who did not understand the force given please when someone is commiting a crime or might be willing to use force to harm you, be sure and wait and make sure they actually harm you before doing anything like mabey getting the upper hand in case it does go out of control. I would really hate to talk about how you took control of the person before he actually had the opportunity to possible kill you, remember you want to give them that fighting chance right. Do not do like the officers and protect yourself first because if you do then you will hear how you were such a jerk for using force. (get real, think about it).

  55. JC Says:

    Steve to cop:

You are just another douche-bag cop flying high on your own ego. Defend him if you will, it just goes to show that you ego driven assholes run in packs.

  56. Sooner44 Says:

Steve & Turner1, man you guys need to lay off of the narcotics!
The Trooper was wrong no matter how you slice it. Whatever the issue was, it could have been resolved at the hospital after the patient was turned over to the ER.
This was simply a case of “I’ve got more power/authority than you & you better damn well know it!” As long as the ambulance driver was cowering to his “authority” everything was ok, but when the other EMT didn’t tuck his tail, the Trooper lost it.
I don’t think the Trooper should lose his job, but he does need to issue a public apology to the EMT’s, the patient and he should be required to complete an anger management course.

  57. Angry Citizen Says:

How fast do you think the police car was traveling? It looks to be about 110-120 mph to me – he came up on the ambulance in just a few moments. The ambulance couldn’t pull over because a car was in the process of pulling over first.

In other reports, it has come out that the trooper had a female passenger in his car. One report said it was his wife whom the trooper had picked up to give a ride – what do you run in OHP, a taxi service?

All you are doing is gettimg more people riled up to collect diesel fuel and fertilizer and make a U-Haul visit. You would think people in OKLAHOMA CITY would remember somethign about that…….

  58. jodie Says:

If this officer was truly on police business, and so “by the book” why was his civilian wife riding in the patrol car w/ him?

  59. Turner1 Says:

First to JC, you’re just like them douche-bag thugs who want to do what they want and say as they please as long as it is agreed to but if it is not agreed to then you pack up with others to keep the focus off yourself and down others just like whommmm oh yeah the ambulance guys. I guess that is a great attempt you have given to sway people with thoughts away from the real situation and to a view that in your head is going to be for anyone who are against authority. When you get through focusing and using this situation to get over your own problems with the law go back to the actual problem on the board.
Second to Sooner44, you talk like you have some logic and I respect your comments. We have some differences on how we feel about it and I feel that there was not a actual medical emergency that it was more of a thrown out drama act to avoid a fine. I understand your opinion of the statement that you said when you mentioned that they feel they have more authority however I think he was borderline trooper and the feeling of overpowering was more to be in control of the situation.. You know like knowing there is a control in place just like if you were going to prison and the other inmates were to intimidate you but you needed to hold your position, in that case you would hold your firm line of respects, this would be no different. I agree a anger management class would be good just to make sure that it does not continue or get worse and really go over the line just like some who were beaten in other cities, now if you look at that it really is not as bad as it could of been and that is how I come to the borderline agreement. And one more thing you really did not have to say to Steve and me to lay off of the narcotics!
We did not tell you to lay off the dope or beer.. you know what mean vern.
I did like the comments, thanks you Turner1

  60. Turner1 Says:

I just looked at the dash cam video and I can see where things went out of hand and I agree with the fact that he was more upset and wanted to give the driver a lecture and let him understand he was in the wrong to disrespect as he did, agreed he should of let it go. but even so I stand behind what I said earlier because the second person should of did as he was told and went back to the car and waited and the driver and officer should of talked about it and the situation does not look like it would of went that far because the driver did seem to be more humble and less finger attitude then at first.
The officer could of let it go once he spoke to the driver and the driver apoligized which would of released the frustration of the officer to make things better but we will not know how it would of come out since the other person still was trying to control the officer and keep him from doing his duty.
I would place a warrent for Mr. White for his display in this matter and yes go over anger management class for the officer just to ensure that lines do get crossed in the future, again it is a different job then most of us have some of you who work do not usually worry if you will be going back home at the end of the day. I personally do not know if they were real paramedics or if the ambulance was hijacked, someone comes at me trying to get me off guard would make me a little pre-cautius as well.

  61. Turner1 Says:

pre-cautius jsut thought i would reply to myself……… what a word pre-cautius … you have to laugh.. Turner1

  62. Call it dumb Says:

Wow, let’s take a quote from Rbbie craig(I am assuming your dumb ass missed the O and didn’t captalize C but I won’t fix it).

“I deal with Okies all the time and there are some pretty stupid excuses for human beings down there.”

First off, where do you get off generalizing a whole state? I believe that if more Oklahomans moved to your state, the IQ would go up in both.

Secondly, I think this cop is a joke. I flip cops off if I want, so can anyone else. It is not illegal to express free speech, in print or sign language. And from what I understand from local reports, the real question is if that part was made up entirely.

  63. Patches Says:

Must be something in that Okie water. My dad was from Perry Ok. Was not a cop, just a carpenter, but he could have been a Ok. cop after seeing the video. He had that same kind of attitude as the smuck officer. “Don’t do as I do, do as I say. I am in charge here. I don’t care that your bleeding to death, stand there while I lecture you and I’ll decide when you can leave”. Yep, there is something in the water down there that turns people into assholes.
The EMT asked 2 or 3 times let me take my patient to the hospital and we can do this there.
You think it’s bad now wait until Obama and his people get all of our (citizens of the USA) guns taken away. It will be like Germany in 1939. Gistapo rounding up anyone that they don’t like, beat the hell out of them and send them to prison. JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN!!

  64. imawake Says:

I know a lot of cops…work with them, socialize with them. They are all very nice, considerate people when dealing with their own(family or friends) but every single one that I know is a total asshole with power and control issues when it comes to dealing with the public. This guy is no exception.

  65. Geovoni Says:

I saw the dashcam video when it first was released and I have to say I was shocked. I feel maybe there was some predjuice on the troopers part as well as a giant chip residing on his sholder. Too often you have one rotten law enforcement officer act in this was and it is ashamed that it reflects on the entire law enforcement community. The proper thing for the officer to do would have followed the ambulance to the hospital where, after the concerns of the patient were addressed, he could have then and only then cited the ambulance driver. Our public servents are already at odds with civilians let alone causing problems within. ANYONE, who possibly puts someone elses life in jeapordy because of their own arrogance needs to be dealt with abruptly and severly. Espically those entrusted to protect the lives of others.

  66. KDFman Says:

The ambulance had no lights on and swerved in front of the cop. First thing said coming out of the ambulance should have been “we have a patient aboard” that would have changed everything. When a passenger of a vehicle gets out at a traffic stop a cop is instantly on gaurd.
The ambulance driver failing to yield while his lights were off, then flipping the bird definitely started this turn of events, the passenger just made it worse.

  67. jeff Says:

Just what you would expect!! Peace of shit cops do nothing untill they get a 20 pounds of weed, or there feeling hurt. DOES EVERYONE KNOW WHY THERE IS SO MUCH ROAD RAGE? NO ONE STOPS AT STOP SIGNS OR LIGHTS! RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COPS. THEY SEE IT AND DO SHIT. I’VE STARTED YELLING AT THEM, ARE YOU GOING TO DO ANYTHING!!! THEY GET A DRUGS BACKUP CALL. ALL THE ASSHOLES DROP THERE DICK’S AND COME FLING TO BE BIG COPS. I FEEL NOTHING FOR THEM WHEN I HEAR THEY FUCK UP OR GET SHOT. THEY DO NOTHING TO STOP PEOPLE DRIVING LIKE FUCKING IDIOTS. IF THEY STOP EVERY PERSON BREAKING TAFFIC LAWS, THEY WOULD PULL 40 TO 60 PEOPLE OVER A DAY. TO MUCH PAPERWORK. SO THEY CHOOSE HOW MUCH PAPER WORK TO DO. BY HOW MANY CALLS THEY RESPOND TO AND HOW MANY VIOLATIONS THEY PULL OVER. LOTS OF CALLS THEN….. THEY DON’T FEEL LIKE PULLING OVER CARS…. HORSE SHIT. BUT A BACKUP CALL OR DRUDS FOUND AND THEY COME OUT OF THE WOOD WORK LIKE A ROACH’S. I’M SO TIRED OF DRIVING. YOU CAN’T GET OUT OF YOUR DRIVEWAY BEFORE YOU GET PISSED AT SOME STUPID DRIVER. AND WHERE ARE THE COPS. SITTING IN THERE CARS. ( THEY MAY BE PLAYING WITH THEM SELVES. THEY DON’T SEAM TO DO MUCH ELSE) THE DRIVER MESSED UP HIS HAPPY TIME FOR HIMSELF! COPS ARE OVER PAID FOR DOING NOTHING. HE BETTER GET CHARGED WITH INTERFEARING WITH EMERGENY EMTS. AND ASSAULT ON A EMERGENCY WORK

  68. jeff Says:

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IS GET RID OF THE USELESS COPS AND GO BACK TO THE WILD WEST DAYS. I DON’T THINK THERE WHERE LOTS OF COWBOYS RIDE’IN INTO TOWN LIKE AN IDIOT. WHY…. BECAUSE PEOPLE HAD GUNS TO SHOOT STUPID PEOPLE BEFORE THEY KILL SOMEBODY. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF ONLY THE DRUNKS A FOOLS RACING ONLY KILLED THEM SELVES!!!!!! IF YOU THOUGHT ANY PERSON COULD FUCK YOU UP FOR DRIVIN STUID OR RACING. OR THE PERSON RACING FROM LANE TO LANE CUTTING INFRONT OF CARS TO GET HOME FASTER!!! MIGHT CHAGE A FEW ADDITUDES!! FUCK ALL YOU STUPID DRIVERS. IF THE WORLD GOES TO MARSHALL LAW ONE DAY. COPS AND EVERY ASSHOLE IN THE WAY IS ON THE LIST.

  69. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

YOU CAN SEE THE CAR PULLS OVER BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THE AMBULANCE HAD SOUNDED HIS LIGHTS SO THE CAR PULLED OFF FAST. MAKING THE AMBULANCE GO AROUND. WHEN HE REALIZED IT WAS AN OFFICER BEHIND HIM HE MOVED OVER. THE AMBULANCE DRIVER MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT HE HAD TRIPPED HIS OWN LIGHTS WHEN THE OFFICER FLEW UP ON HIM SO FAST IN AN UNSAFE MANNER. IT ALSO SAYS TO PULL OVER IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. SO SHOULD EVERY CAR DRIVE OFF THE ROAD IF THERE IS NO SAFE AREA TO DO SO? JUST SO SOME LAZY COP CAN NOW PRETEND TO DO HIS JOB!! LOOKED LIKE A SMALL 2 LANE ROAD WITH A DITCH OF TO THE SIDE.

  70. tom newton Says:

he should be removed from his position of authority and stripped of his badge. he is an absolute disgrace not only to himself but to all who serve. he should be fired immediately no questions asked, the video says it all.

  71. Rob Says:

Administrative leave is just standard practice this prick will be back on the job, to continue making an ass of himself.

  72. Turner1 Says:

ta, CALL IT DUMB: you are a idiot, you talk like a idiot, you sound like a idiot, and to top it off your such an idiot, you do not even know your a idiot.

  73. Doris Decker Says:

UNBELIEVABLE! I am so glad I saw this video! It made my day. I am still laughing. Law enforcement is doing it to themselves, leaving some out of control officers out there, but who reviewed their applications in the first place. That is what I want to know.

Well, who do I contact to say thank you for the entertainment.

    watchdog

  74. Turner1 Says:

To jeff and call it dumb, hope you both get the shit beat out of you for resisting arrest, I am sure you will be the ones who resist then try to turn it on the officer. scumbads usually do that when they think they are so much smarter then everyone else. I mean actually just look at you un-educated response. I would like to see that and as a on looker I would like to get a kick in or two myself.

  75. Turner1 Says:

was that okie enough for you.

  76. Apostle Says:

Yeah Turner1, after reading your comments, I agree “…you have to laugh….” By the way, the word is “precautious.” You’re really scary!

  77. Turner1 Says:

this is for you both,(Im flipping you off)…. have a nice day.

  78. Turner1 Says:

Thank you Apostle, Im not flipping you off by the way.
Have a good day. Sincerely, Turner1

  79. MedicDave Says:

I’ll make it easy. When that cop gets popped by some meth-head assclown, maybe all the med units will be busy???? Hmmmm…A cop jackin a medic like that is like shooting yourself and just sitting there waiting to bleed to death. Who backs up the police you ask? Answer: Medics! We all usually work great together, maybe the guy needs PTSD couseling to work out his issues from deployment or from the job. Regardless, I hope he doesn’t find himself laying there one night praying to hear the ambulance siren coming to bail his all out – might be a long wait.

  80. Turner1 Says:

yes medic dave I understand that kind of like if a person breaks into your home and your family is sitting ducks – I could be more graphic but I wont, point is I would hope you would not have a long wait for a police siren. if so might be a long wait or mabey the medics might help you out. …… all you had to say was they always try to work well together and I agree, the rest was worthless bull crud..

  81. Turner1 Says:

look medic dave im not trying to twist your bottle cap but I am suggesting that you look at the big picture before placeing a negative out like that, your parents or family, uncle, whoever could need a officers protection just like one of the officers family and they all work together to help each other and sometimes situations occur, like this one. Still, do not loose the ideas of working together and keep the trash out of it, your bigger than that- Mr. Medic Dave. I give you the respect. Turner1

  82. randy gray Says:

it seems obvious that the cop proves he is qualified to be a trooper, he has no common sense. maybe he will be able to find employment in the fast-food market! as they say, “no brains no headaches” !

  83. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

    to turner1
LOOKS LIKE YOU WOULD ONLY KICK BECAUSE YOUR TO BIG OF A FUCKING PUSSY TO CHECK ME TO MY FACE. YOUR THE KIND OF FAGET THAT MOBS A PERSON WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE. YOU THE KIND OF PUSSY WHO WON’T FIGHT WITHOUT ALL HIS FRIEND’S!!! YEP!! BECAUSE YOUR A WUSS. PART WIMP AND PART PUSSY!

  84. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

IVE TAKEN TANG SOO DOO SENCE I WAS 7. BLACK BELT 5TH DEGREE. THAT COP OR ANYONE STOPPIN MY MOM WOULD OF ONLY HAD A FEW SECONDS OF VISION LEFT TO SEE AS THEY FELL ON THE GROUND TO THERE DEATH. HOPE TO SEE TURNER 1 THERE!

  85. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

GOT TO PISSED AT TURNER1 IT TANG SOO DO. ONLY ONE O.

  86. Apostle Says:

TURNER1:SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT “SCARY”; YOU GOT JEFF SO UPSET HE FORGOT HOW TO SPELL “DO.” CALM DOWN GRASSHOPPER JEFF; LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY. BY-THE-WAY, IT’S “THEIR” DEATH, NOT THERE. TAKE A DEEP BREATH.

  87. lostchild22 Says:

ok…we all know road rage by now…but isnt the one having it suppose to be the one protecting us from it???> is he having a ego crises….the ems guys were doing what they should do…lets face it the trooper thought he could do what ever because he has the badge which makes it legal…not right but legal….

  88. JGM.MD Says:

Strictly speaking,it appears that Turner has a few problems of his own to work out. Did everyone notice that he not only defended the actions of that maniac, but exhibited the same attitude himself??? I really liked the part about getting in a few kicks from the sideline. Definitely a brave soul there.

  89. JGM.MD Says:

Aren’t the police supposed to be protecting us from people like themselves??

  90. Larry L. DeGroff Says:

What is this country coming to? There is NO reason the Ambulance should not have yielded to the police officer. The police car had his siren going and the Ambulance did not (not even emergency lights). That gives the Officer priority and right of way. This takes up more of our tax dollars to pursue a case which should be most evident ridiculous. The Paramedic should be charged as well as the Ambulance driver. Is the Paramedic and Ambulance driver on leave? Let’s get real here and do the right thing. The Officer did NOTHING wrong and his being put on leave is a public OUTRAGE!!!

  91. Turner1 Says:

See that is what I am talking about, the officer does not know what he will be facing and to prove the point read what jeff tonn all jeff’s Says: (please read above). The officer never knows what he will be facing and a show of force is needed to protect himself against people like Jeff. Also did we not notice what JGM.MD Says: (please read above). This is clearly someone who stands behind a person who would do extreme damage all the way to death. JGM.MD will side with anyone who goes against what he feels and who does not agree with him such as above.
Again this is a demonstration of how two people group against someone just like the two people in the ambulance video.
You all have been great. I am done from this conversation and I hope you would have a clear view of what it would be like if you were in the shoes of the officer.
He may of come on strong but the others in the video come on stronger just like jeff and some others did.
No matter how we look at it that does not make me wrong when I am just speaking my opinion. good day.

  92. Poboy Says:

Exactly what I’ve meant for years about increasing the pay of law enforcement. You would have quality, qualified, productive members of society instead of individuals like that who couldn’t pass the test to work at McDonalds, so they make a cop out of them.

  93. Ron Sheaffer Says:

If you think this is bad, take a look at the Pa. news last week.4 Scranton Pa.police ,shot and killed a woman holding a knife,of course they were found to be justified in there actions by the Pa.State police. No tasers no pepper spray.Just 4 grown men with guns. This guy will get off the same way. Welcome to JUSTICE

  94. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

turner1 sounds a little mad at me. and no i would’t turn it around. i learned about integrity. if i puched you in the face i would own up to it if an officer showed up.even if i punched the officer, or even make any mistake. i dont think you would tell the cop when he shows up, officer i got a few kicks in!! would you? nope cuss your a fag hiding in the closet. you hide for everything! but your responce shows your a pussy from okie. thats why call it dumb made you mad!! ha ha lol i hope one day the officer stops your mother and she starts to die right in you face. ow yea! i went to a mama joke. and what do you mean the officer doesn’t know what he is facing!! how many criminals drive in an ambulance. your the fuckin idiot okie!!

  95. portori Says:

The cop was out of control. He showed no inteligence as he stop an ambulance with apatience in it. He did not show any concern about the patience. He also talked foul language. He was more concern about his ego and authority(!!!???) than the ambulance and paramedic job. Must be put in an anger management course or sent back to the academy, if no fired.

  96. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

jgm.md you know this guy well you found this pussy switch now. that cop will need that ambulance driver one day. only thing that really will happen is the officer just put more distance in between there departments. when one officer gets shot next time, would they be happy to know the ambulance pulled over for the fire truck runnin to diffrent location? hope the poor okie don’t die waiting!!

  97. portori Says:

The cop was out of control. He showed no intelligence as he stop an ambulance with a patience in it. He did not show any concern about the patience. He also talked foul language. He was more concern about his ego and authority(!!!???) than the ambulance and paramedic job. Must be put in an anger management course or sent back to the academy, if no fired.

  98. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

nobody tried to gang up on you turner1, but when your at work and you say stupid things there. did we not give you the same responce every person gives you when they know they are talking to an idiot. when you come to the defence of the killer or the cop in this case, you better know what he did was wrong. if the car had not pulled over so fast when the officer flew up. the ambulance would mot have swerved into the road. the car pulls over fast and hits the brakes. the ambulance had no choise but to go around the pull over. the car driver thought it was the ambulance signals. for the officer not to see that and you shows why everyone thought what you said was stupid. man it it hard to explain things to stupid people.

  99. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

im a mason. block, brick, stone. we get guys like turner1 there all the time. they say “i work out, bench 295 pounds.” but they work 2 hours and carry 40 block or stones and you turn around and there in ther car and drove off. we go throught 4 to 5 hundred a year. i know an idiot when i talk to one turner1. the officer and you sound like you should get call the officer a go bowling. maybe the two fags will hit it off. se ya turner1 get an job. looser

  100. jeff tonn all jeff's Says:

sorry for the short words hard not to type all the letters im so used to texting shorter words. hard to go back to full words.

  101. tripper Says:

is showing a cop a finger, a reason to pull over a vehicle?

  102. Sarah Brown Says:

As a reitired Police Officer and having worked many years in OK I have to say that this was an unfortunate incident. However, to the best of my knowlege the ambulance was not running “Hot” and he should have been if the patient was an emergency patient. If it was a transport, they don’t always run hot. From what I see in the video the officer was in the right and all people who work in emergency services expect understanding & cooperation from agencies whom they work with. Another point is that the EMT in the back should have never exited the ambulance…that immediately put the officer in self-protection mode. When an officer makes a stop he/she never knows what they may encounter and NO ONE should ever exit a vehicle w/o the officer directing them to. That ambulance could have been stolen…it’s happened. There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. If the driver had been allowed to explain the situation it’s my belief that the incident would not have escalated. The EMT in the back caused what could have been a simple thing to blow up. Most agencies cooperate very well with each other as we all depend on each other and back each other up. The driver was in the wrong for flipping the officer off but I doubt that that’s why the Officer stopped him. However, most professional EMT’s wouldn’t have done that and had I been that officer I would have questioned whether or not it was stolen or something was wrong. OK is a rough state to work. The whoe incident shouldn’t have happened.

  103. Darlin Cyn Says:

Watched this video a few days ago and like most people was shocked !
Have any of you ever had your Mom in the back of an ambulance following it to the hospital? Wasn’t your worry, fear level and adrinaline already pumping? My hat’s off to those family member’s here in this story. I just can’t imagine how I would of reacted. My question is “Why would a state trooper jeapordize so many other’s life?” Not only the safty of the crowd on the side of the road, the patient in the ambulance, but from what I’m understanding he was also answering a backup call with his wife in the car?” Isn’t all of this poor judgement? He should of escorted the ambulance to the hospital, questioned the driver’s action there or called in for backup. then he and his “wife” could go on and finish the call, that this ambulance was keeping him from, that was so important he had his siren on! Wasn’t that the whole point to begin with? Still would like to know what happened to that call and if he also left someone else’s life in danger by not showing up. Some of you want to say there was some hidden agenda on the part of the EMT. Personally this story makes me question the agenda of a state officer running with a siren on, wife in the car, and anger clearly misdirected. Sounds like maybe the fight inside his car found it’s focus on public servant’s doing their job right. I would of thrown my hand up in frutration too.

  104. Darlin Cyn Says:

Wish I had a job where if I choaked someone I was paid to serve, my punishment would be suspended with pay. That’s our tax dollars at work America.

  105. Darlin Cyn Says:

Sarah, respectfully as an retired police officer wouldn’t you agree that officers are trained to decern and access situations. It was clear once the abulance was pulled over being followed by family members to the patient the ambulance wasn’t “hi-jacked.” The officer was foul mouthed and beligerent to the point he wasn’t listening to any of them. He also never even bothered to check on the patient. The EMT’s stood their ground insisting for the officer to let them do their job. They also respectfully asked the officer several times to just follow them to the hospital. Through all of the video the only person out of control and cursing was the officer. Do you really feel the officer was in the right to grab Mr. White by the throat? If he was, then why did he do it on the other side of the ambulance out of view of the dash cam? What would you have done if this had of been your call?

  106. sweetpea Says:

For Steve the cop. You’re over-analyzing this. The ambulance driver may not have performed exactly as he should’ve, but the cop behaved completely inappropriately. That trooper is a bomb waiting to go off. He has some serious anger/power issues.

  107. William E Says:

Don’t any of you know the reason that the police have this soft of horrible, power hungry attitude? Because they have over and over violated their consciences until it is dead (has become seared) by running over the laws of God by breaking up the homes – throwing the husbands and fathers (it is father’s day!)out of their own homes and breaking up the family and marriage. They work for Beelzibub! And then we wonder why the crime rate is so high – highest in the world! Our jails are full. Repent America!

  108. Sam Says:

Fire the trooper. Fire the idiot. Nowadays cops have started to do less of their jobs and are more concerned about who respects them. Respect does not come by wearing a uniform, you moron! Recently saw another video of a cop showing his authority on a family whose loved one was breathing their last in the hospital. All these morons need some education and more importantly one has to analyze why such people join the police force. There should be some serious psychological evaluation done before they join the force.

  109. johnny Godwin Says:

Its a shame that we have people like this on the police force.I have friends that are cops and they are good guys.It has to get old when you deal with the scum of the earth all the time. These guys need better pay and more vacation time, that way they have no excuse to act like idiots, which this Trooper clearly is.Strict discipline is the only way to get these bad cops off the streets. The police,Fire dept, and ambulance companies usually work hand in hand, but I guess not in this state where ever they are.Its juust a good thing the patient survived.

  110. Wynema Says:

Just to clarify a little here, the Tulsa news had an EMT on and he said in cases such as this one (the patient had heart pains and shortness of breath) it is customary NOT to have the sirens blowing. They say this stresses the patient more. Also, the trooper had gone on and answered the back up call and then returned to the ambulance. It took about 15 minutes before he was back. The driver of the ambulance denies ever having given the trooper the finger. (I just wonder if this is the first time the trooper has been given a finger.) Had the ambulance had the siren and lights going it would have had the right away. They were trying to save the patient this distress. Unfortunately, the patient got more than enough stress from the traffic stop. Also, the TV station had an officer show the two throat holds that are to be used on a person and this type of choke hold is definately not one of them. The only two holds allowed are using your arm.

  111. Wynema Says:

Sorry, that was seven minutes not fifteen.

  112. maria analicia Says:

It is interesting that this pig was answering a backup call. FOX News has reported that at the time of the supposed call and stop of the ambulance, he had a female passenger in the front seat of his patrol car that was identified as his wife.

When did cops start taking spouces on calls? This whole thing is sham, the responding to a call thing that is. Only a fool or a FOP cool aid drinker would see any credibility to this SOB’s ’story’.

Bottom line, the prick was trying to show off for his wife with total disregard for the safty of the patient in the ambulance.

Pigs and jack-boot thugs hiding behind bullshit badges are more of a danger to the citizenry and their constitutional rights than criminals. I know that the majority (at least I hope so) of police officers do their job and do it within the boundries of the law. If is fuck wads like Storm Trooper Martin that is the menace.

Mrs. Storm Trooper Martin would be better served and so would society, if instead of a pig wallowing around the house she had a folded flag on her mantle. Come to think of it, it would be a waste of a flag and an insult to have a flag drape that son of a bitch’s filthy ass. I wish nothing but the worst for you Storm Trooper Martin, may you burn in Hell. Have a nice day Martin (I hope you have very few left)!

  113. Sarah Says:

Darlin, you are right; we/they are trained to access situations and often don’t have a lot of time to do that. After reading more posts I realize that I have not heard all the details of the incident. I thnk the whole incident was avoidable and unfortunate. My point was that if he had been able to talk to the driver maybe this wouldn’t have happened. I stand by my statement that no one should exit a vehicle and come at an officer because it does put you in self protection mode. I guess the best I can say is it was unfortunate for all of the parties involved and there were things done by all of the paties involved that in debriefing were hopefully identified. I agree that the choke hold may/was have been unneccessary (Only the Officer can say how threatened he felt),but I hope that all parties can learn from this and the officer not lose his job. Spouse ride-alongs are allowed in most places on an occassional basis to give the spouse a better understanding of the job so I don’t see a problem there but, obviously there’s a lot that happened that I don’t know about and if we weren’t there maybe we never will know exactly how things went down. I still believe that everyone involed is guilty of mishandling the incident. And yes, there are asshole officers out there that even their fellow officers are uncomfortable in backing up. I’ve worked with some and while I had to back them up all you can hope to do is de-escalate the situation and try to make a difference. I just hope that people who have one bad incident w/ an officer who has “John Wayne Syndrome” won’t judge all officers by that. I can’t say what was going on with the Officer during this incident but I do believe there’s blame all around.

  114. Turner1 Says:

Sarah — Excellent, very informative and well put.
