Iguana hunter: We might as well eat them
Iguanas, like Nile monitor lizards and Burmese pythons, aren’t supposed to live in Florida. They are here thanks to lax federal and state laws regarding the pet trade, and thanks to pet owners who lose their critters or let them go. Now all manner of alien reptiles with no natural enemies are reproducing in the state’s southern half as if on a mission to take over Florida. In a matter of decades they are changing the ecology of a place that has taken thousands of years to evolve.
This article includes a recipe for Iguana Stew.
Remember, after I posted about iguana hunting in June, some idiot commented:
As an iguana owner I would like to shoot you in the head at close range and shoot your dog and cat with guns what kind of pathetic a$$hole are you anyway. Go home to your trailer, trash.
Ha ha. Jokes on the idiot. He’s obviously clueless. Murdoc doesn’t even have a cat.

Maybe these animal lovers need to take into consideration the negative effect these invasive, non-native animals have on the native species.
For example pythons have a very bad impact on native water bird populations in FLA.
If they don’t have any better solutions then they can keep their poorly informed, knee jerk opinions to themselves.

Iguanas suck. I had one as a pet when I was little and all the thing did was whip me with its tail every time I tried to feed it.

Totally not sure about eating them, but if they are screwing up the local ecosystem as badly as it is appearing, nuke the little cold-blooded twits

I rescue Iguana’s. I totally understand both sides, As a Iguana lover it breaks my heart to see them killed but I also Understand the impact they have one the ecosystem. It is very sad that people released their “beloved” pets into the wild , and it is very sad alot of these animals and their young may be shot and killed or euthanized.
I really wish people would not release their non-native Animals into the wild.
Just my 2cents.
