I think I can answer Nadnerbus' question.

A single-barreled weapon has a more natural path for the eye to follow to the sight (which is why over/unders were developed). The wide barrel array of sxs doubles presents a more confusing message to the brain, although I'm sure that with sufficient practice, you can get over it.

The second advantage is all psychological. The "tango" looking at the business end of TWO 12-ga barrels is going to be more afraid.

I can see the light's logic, but why put a five hundred dollar red dot on a double barrel, break open, short barrel shotgun? Seems like if you are resorting to using this to protect yourself, the tangos are probably well within simple point and click range for a weapon of this sort. But then I might have no idea what I'm talking about.

I think this is overkill though. Double barrel with a light clamped on somewhere and a decent front bead is more than enough for that kind of weapon.
