Same here. My wife doesn’t have the strength in her hands to rack the slide on my 9mm. Nor can she pull the trigger of any double action revolver and she has to work hard to cock the hammer of any single action revolver. So she gets the Ruger Mark III. She can hit anything she can see with it. A bit of lead is better then 911 alone.

Anyone that claims that a 22lr is not a good self defense round is welcome to stand 50′ feet in front of me armed with his self defense handgun of choice, and we can trade shots, i go first. I can shoot the piss out of 1″ circles at 50′ all day long with my 22/45.

elsewhere: whatever is possible. Preferably compact 45acp, or 38spl, or 380acp, or 32acp, or 22lr, or 22short, or 25acp…., or a khyber knife, an asp baton, chair, bottle, ball point pen, whatever. I’ll avoid it if i can, run away if i can, but otherwise i’ll use whatever i have to: i’m planning to go home, intact.

I found myself unable to answer the last question properly. I most agreed with option D, hitting the right spot, fast and often. However, I also think you should hit it with the most powerful round you can. A vote for D can very easily be slanted to suggest .22LR is the BEST self defense caliber, as it can be used to hit faster. Not a conclusion I agree with, so I voted for plain old “hitting the right spot.”

Question 3, choosing betweeen 22LR, 25ACP, 32ACP, or a dog that bites, I picked 22LR because I have them. Plenty of them. And I can get more if needed. The other three – not so much…

Still a false choice.

I have bigger pistols than .22 lrs. I use them for self defense. I was carrying them for self defense before we had “shall isssue” permits, and if it becomes illegal to carry them again, I’ll still be carrying.

Yes, a .22 is better than nothing. So is a pointed stick.
