B. Daniel Blatt at Pajamas Media:
The national gay groups, never eager to be out of sync with the agenda of the American left, would likely not be willing to promote the responsible use of firearms, an issue associated with conservatives and the GOP. I could find no reference to gun rights on the website of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). In 2004, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force “expressed concern” that Vice President Cheney was delivering the keynote address at the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Their release included quotes from several groups critical of the NRA and firearms.
This is yet another case of the very people that might able to benefit the most from self-defense often being the most opposed to gun rights. Honestly, what chance does the unfairly stereotypical gay guy have against the unfairly stereotypical redneck gay-hater? Not much without an equalizer of some sort.
Yet the national gay rights organizations lobby continuously for stronger hate crime laws and greater personal freedom in many areas while standing by while their allies on the Left work to disarm law-abiding citizens and leave all the good folks at the mercy of the bad guys.
Now, I’ll admit it. Murdoc is not exactly what you would call a champion for gay rights. But I think everyone should have the right to defend themselves, and I don’t mean just those who agree with me on various political and social issues.
