Video of the Sturmgewehr MP-44 over at Murdoc Online.
Someone was talking about manufacturing clones of these. Does anyone know who it was and if it ever moved ahead?

Do you mean these guys? Sport-Systeme Dittrich?

They’ve been making various fully functional semi-auto versions of famous WW2 weapons in Germany for a few years now. Not sure if they’re available for import here.

A German company called Sport-Systeme Dittrich makes them. Supposedly PTR 91 Inc. is going to import some of them.
Manufacturer’s website:
http://www.ssd-weapon.com/engl_web/index_en.htm
PTR 91′s website lists them as “MSRP $Coming Soon” and “Available: October 2009!”, so, um, yeah… any day now I’m sure.

Here’s a thought, what if GSG (or anyone) made a .22 version of it? Wouldn’t that just sell like hotcakes?

Hell, these guys build FG-42′s! How much?

These folks in Everett WA are handbuilding a limited run at $11k per rifle ( $1.5 deposit to get a place in line ).

The German made copies can’t be imported into the US because of 922r compliance issues ( thank George Bush Sr. for that one ).

Sorry … different rifle. But it did predate the MP44.
