Lawmakers: Military could quell Chicago violence
CHICAGO — Two Illinois lawmakers say violence has become so rampant in Chicago that the National Guard must be called in to help.
Chicago Democratic Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford made a public plea to Gov. Pat Quinn on Sunday to deploy troops.

I don’t understand why they just don’t ban guns. Every other city that has banned guns has seen seen dramatic drops in violent crimes. Chicago’s insane rules allowing citizens to carry firearms is to blame for all of these gun deaths.

You’ve got to be pretty dense in the head to think calling for the National Guard is the thing to do here.

i just dont understand how all this gun violence is even HAPPENING in chicago. i mean, guns are illegal there, right?
i think this is an awareness problem. the city just hasnt done a good enough job educating its residents on the gun laws in the city. im sure once they get the word out, so everyone understands that guns are absolutely not tolerated in the city (and of course any kind of gun VIOLENCE is straight out) then this problem will resolve itself right away.
What exactly is the National Guard going to do? Stand around and wait for a gun fight to start. Rules of engagement?
Well, NPR did say that Chicago has had more Americans die due to violence this year, than Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
Anyone sent to Chicago should get hazardous duty pay.
The logical conclusion of leftists policies taken to extreme is something like this, so it’s really just unintentionally honest. I’m not saying Democrats want martial law and troops in the street to enforce their world view, but since their world view is based on a fantasy notion of human nature, it would take the threat of force and violence to make the general population comply with it. The fact that they don’t see the utter contradiction in their stance towards firearms just proves how totally committed they are to the cause, facts be damned.
It just goes to show how lefties don’t want to take responsibility for their own personal defense. First, they disarm everyone (except, obviously, the criminals), then they want the National Guard to protect everyone from those criminals! But wait, how can they have criminals when they already banned guns!
I know, they just need to pass laws banning things such as robbery and murder! What? You say they already have laws against those things? I see those laws are working out about as well as the law banning guns in Chicago! Foolish lefties!

The logic at work here seems to flow this-wise:
Guns in Chicago are a huge problem–> So ban guns–> Guns remain a problem –> Get more guns to fix the problem
It hasn’t occurred to some folks that if you’ve declared guns are bad, you can’t very well call on more guns as being the answer to the problem.
