That actually looks pretty cool. Does it work as advertised? and how sharp are the spikes?

Yes, the spikes are pretty sharp. Most spiked bezels aren't sharp at all because you cut yourself, your clothes, the stuff on your belt, etc. And they would catch on things as you drew it, etc.
But since you can cover these during normal non-defensive use, they can be a lot sharper. Not knife-sharp, but metal with sharp edges. Someone brings that down on you with force, you're not going to like it much.
It does work as advertised. (Though I haven't tried hitting anyone with it to test the defensive results in the real world - LOL). I guess the only problem I can see with it is that to make the cover loose enough to flip with your thumb, it has a tendency to open on its own. You can tighten it so it won't, but then you can't flip it open so easily. It's no big deal, though.

Hehe... I was hoping you found a local gang banger, or surly teenager to volunteer for an operational test. Oh well. I think I'm going to order one of these. I've got a couple surefire tactical lights that are pretty good, but you can never have too many flashlights.
