KC police fire at backfiring van
Two Kansas City police officers who thought they were being shot at from inside a van returned fire Thursday night.
Only later did police realize that the van was actually backfiring and the man inside was not armed. He was not injured by the shots fired by police.
The officers had been dispatched to investigate a call about shots fired, so they were already in defensive mode. But sheesh.
Apparently, they shot the windows out of their own car during the “shootout.”

Aren’t they trained not to draw unless they see a weapon? If a CCW holder emptied a magazine at some car they thought was shooting at them, only to find out it was a backfire, they sure as hell wouldn’t be a CCW holder for much longer.
