Phil Jordan, a former CIA operative and one-time leader of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s El Paso Intelligence Center, claims that the Obama administration is running guns to the violent Zetas cartel through the direct commercial sale of military grade weapons…
“From the intel, it appears that a company was set up in Mexico to purchase weapons through the U.S. Direct Commercial Sales Program, and that the company may have had a direct link to the Zetas.”
I’ve long argued that we need to see how many of the Mexican crime guns that actually are from the US were sold to the Mexican police and military. But I’ve assumed that they would have been acquired via theft, battlefield scavenging, or black market sales by corrupt government employees. Not by direct sales to a front company.
This is the sort of story that I would generally approach with extreme caution and skepticism. But we’ve seen so many of these wild theories turn out to be true that the benefit of the doubt is rapidly evaporating.
If it does, in fact, turn out that the US State Department has been selling automatic weapons straight to the Mexican cartels, we’ll no doubt see Eric Holder explaining that it needs to be addressed by tightening gun control on the US population.

It seems like the only people they don’t want to have guns are ordinary American citizens.
