ActionAirgun Kicks off Today

The inaugural 12-week season of ActionAirgun kicks off today. Here’s the kit I mentioned last week:

How do they stop cheating?
The online fishing tournaments have complex image recognition software to prevent cheating, but here you are just uploading scores.

Cheating? ActionAirgun has 5 “Pillars of honesty”
1) You have a gun in your hand, we trust you to be honest.
2) You will probably be shooting with your friends, Friends don’t let friends cheat in shooting sports.
3) Scores are not posted until the end of the stage, If you cheat too badly it will be obvious, other than that you don’t really know how much to fudge.
4) the 3rd season in every year is a Championship where the top 100 shooters are asked to shoot in person and live. If you’re invited because you haven’t been honest about your times, you’ll be beaten BADLY by the honest shooters
5) We have the ability to perform statistical analysis on the times. If your times have consistently been 125% of the best time and now you’re at 102% it might warrant a phone call or e-mail.
We’ll never prevent or catch 100% of the cheats, but we’re working to keep the sport as fun and as inexpensive as possible. The players are shooters and we’ve been happy with the way the sport is progressing.

I guess you are right, there is no point cheating to get into the Championship if you can’t walk the walk.
