Now, I’ve been to innumerable “Truther” rallies over the last 8 years, and can say with some confidence that about 98% of folks who think 9/11 was a hoax are left-wingers, or at the very least fit in very comfortably in the left-wing milieu, since the impetus behind Truthism is to undermine the basis for Bush’s “War on Terror,” an impetus which is also a cornerstone of modern Leftist thought as well.

So far, however, I’ve noticed a deafening quietude on the left-leaning blogs about this guy’s affiliations and belief systems. Those brave enough to troll leftist comments sections have noted mumblings therein that the guy was probably a secret “teabagger,” despite all evidence to the contrary.

A former police lieutenant pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiring to obstruct justice after federal officials say he helped cover for officers who killed two people in the chaos following Hurricane Katrina.

Federal investigators say former Lt. Michael Lohman knew two people shot to death as they crossed the Danziger Bridge had no weapons, but he and others filed false reports to make the shootings seem justified. Four other people were wounded.

Two would-be thieves didn’t count on a motion alarm and a gun-toting 70-year-old Winter Haven man when they tried to steal the batteries from his golf cart, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports.

A lot of people will look at this and ask, “Are golf cart batteries really worth shooting someone over?”

The question really is, “Are stealing someone’s golf cart batteries really worth getting shot over?”

When the homeowner confronted the would-be robbers, they moved on him.

“The bottom line with police work is ethics and trust and respect. He blew every one of them,” said Lt. John Delmonico, president of the Minneapolis Police Federation, of which Carson is a member. “Good luck to him in jail.”

Carson was stopped for a license plate violation, let go because he was an LEO, and robbed a bank. The officer who had pulled him over earlier and let him go was responding to the bank call when he spotted Caron’s vehicle headed away from the bank.

A man armed with an assault rifle and handgun walked into a plant in St. Louis Thursday and opened fire, killing one person and wounding four others, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the ABB Power factory on the city’s north side.

They’ve been reporting “assault rifle” from the first moment, even when they had no other details. First, it’s likely not an assault rifle at all, just a gun that looks like one. Secondly, it will be interesting to see if it’s even that.

The killer was apparently carrying what has been described as “an ammunition belt.” We’ll see what that turns out to be.

He may be have recently lost his job and was a plaintiff in a class-action lawsuit against the company’s pension review committee.

UPDATE: Now looks like three victims were killed and the shooter killed himself. He could have just done that first.

Anyway, the updated version of the story says three weapons, “an assault rifle, a handgun and a shotgun,” were found, according to police.

Having “wanted to kill someone for a long time,” Christopher Gribble picked a house at random and used a machete to kill a woman sleeping in her bed. The woman’s daughter, 11, was also attacked and left for dead. The killer expressed disappointment that the girl survived “because now she has to live with this.”

The killer claims to be disappointed that he didn’t feel any emotion after killing the woman.

Three others invaded the home with Gribble. They cut the house’s power before entering. The woman’s husband was away, though I don’t think the invaders knew that. They just picked a house and went for it.

“Buy a gun,” a member of a recently busted inner-city gang told The Buffalo News last week when asked what could be done to curtail homicides. “Hey, I’m just being honest. You asked.”

Buffalo police say that they don’t agree. Surprise surprise.

Last summer, pushed by Jordan Valley rancher Bob Skinner, a past president of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, ranchers overcame their reluctance to talk and started sharing information with law enforcement and each other. It quickly became clear that more than 1,200 cattle worth about $1 million had disappeared, far more than could be accounted for by the bones that dot this harsh country, or strays joining a neighbor’s herd.

What’s more, the store owner was himself shot by a robber in March. Guess he had had enough of that for one lifetime.
