Puma M-92 Bounty Hunter

February 8th, 2009

Mare’s Laig:

PUMA M-92 Bounty Hunter, available in .45 Colt, .44-40, and .44 Magnum. Federally approved pistol.

PUMA M-92 Bounty Hunter, available in .45 Colt, .44-40, and .44 Magnum. Federally approved pistol.

Murdoc wouldn’t mind finding one of these under the Christmas tree one snowy morning, but he probably can’t pull off “good boy” to the $1299 level.

Reading up a bit, I saw that on Wanted: Dead or Alive, Steve McQueen wore .45-70 rounds in his gun belt rather than the .44-40 rounds his gun actually used. I haven’t watched the show much, maybe an episode or two over the years, but .45-70 out this thing might take an arm off.

Puma PPS 22 Prototype

At the Legacy Sports International booth:

More .22LR fun. The wood versions of the PPS22 sure remind one of the PPSh-41, particularly the ventilated barrel shroud.

Available with 10- and 50-round magazines. MSRP of $550 with synthetic stock, $585 with wood. Extras 50 round drums are $105.

No word on availability of “shoulder things that go up” for these models, but those things are so deadly who needs one anyway.

I’ve been very lazy about getting the rest of my SHOT Show snapshots online. I’ve finished up a few assignments and and hoping to get the rest of the photos up over the coming week.

Compact Rifles

February 5th, 2009

Wendy LeFever of NRA’s Insights magazine checks out guns for the youngsters in SHOT Youth Guns.

Remington has started calling their youth guns “compact,” probably to make them more attractive to smaller women and older kids who might be put off by the “youth” label.

Picked this up at the Chey Tac booth at SHOT.

Careful…That thing could put an eye out.

Look, mom! I’m on the internet!

Was just cruising Caleb’s site and saw that he posted a photo of me exiting the FlashFog booth, which he calls the “fog booth of death”.

Though non-lethal, the booth certainly does the trick. Replicating the sudden fog and blinding strobe effect in a shop or store would almost certainly end any burglary in its tracks.

New for this year is the SoundWall, a 125-decibel, man-stopping blast of dissonant sound. Combine this with the FlashFog and it would really put the fear of God into smash-and-grabbers.

Even without the SoundWall turned on, I was not at my best as I stumbled out of the FlashFog demo booth. Go look.

I’m not generally a fan of no-hammer handguns, but this one sure felt like it would handle nicely.
