Last week I noted that the Barrett 98B won an NRA Golden Bullseye, now company founder and CEO Ronnie Barret has won one as well.
Very well deserved.

Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championships
December 8th, 2009
Cool:
This spring the NRA Collegiate & Schools Program will be introducing a NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championship that will be open to all levels of collegiate shooters.
This new championship will include NRA College Rifle Clubs, Varsity Rifle Teams, ROTC Teams, and independent shooters, for which there is currently no national championship.
“As a result of the new championship, we hope to see a boosted level of awareness toward collegiate shooting that will help foster rifle programs across the nation,” said Tori Croft, National Manager of NRA Collegiate & School Programs.
Purdue University will be the host of the 2010 NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championship, which will be held April 8-11 at the Purdue University Armory.
Pete Brownell to run for NRA Board
October 25th, 2009

Pete Brownell
Pete Brownell, President of the Iowa-based gunsmithing supply company, Brownells has announced that he is running for a seat on the NRA Board of Directors.
“Thanks to my dad, Frank, I’ve been a Life Member of National Rifle Association since I was a baby. I’ve grown up believing the NRA is the best way to protect our 2nd Amendment rights and our shooting and hunting heritage. I grew up in the industry and believe I can serve as an effective link between the people who built our traditions, and those that are enjoying them today,” said Brownell. “As President of Brownells, I’ve continued the family tradition – started by my granddad, Bob Brownell – of supporting the NRA with our contributions to a variety of programs. Now I want to apply my knowledge of the firearms industry and my business experience to help the NRA serve our members.”
Brownell was nominated by the petitions of members, far surpassing the required number of signatures, and by the NRA’s nominating committee.
Michigan 2009 Truth About Gun Owners Poll
September 16th, 2009
Got this in the mail today from the NRA-ILA and here are Murdoc’s answers:

NRA-ILA's 2009 Michigan TAG Poll
No real surprises except for maybe #8, in which I marked “undecided” about a “no-net-loss” law for hunting land. I favor the idea in principle and certainly support hunting and other outdoors activities, but I guess I’m also a bit hesitant to put something like this into law. I can imagine that my answer there won’t sit well with everyone.
Also, I’ve got to admit that I can’t send as much of a donation as I’d like to one this one. Things are tough, and Michigan is tougher than most. I’m fortunate enough to have a relatively secure job these days, but that doesn’t mean the wheelbarrows full of cash have started rolling in yet.

Due to a last-second change in plans, Murdoc will be unable to attend the 2nd Amendment Blogger Bash in Phoenix.
My apologies.

Via the Outdoor Wire: Shooting Illustrated’s GunsandHunting.com Redesigned
Shooting Illustrated’s GunsandHunting.com has been redesigned with faster navigation, exclusive content, videos and the addition of yet another well-known gun writer to the team, Shelby Murdoc of GunPundit.com fame. Murdoc, a freelance gun writer and columnist specializing in tactical firearms since 2004, has been blogging for six years and his regular installments to GunsandHunting.com add even more depth to the website’s firearm coverage.
All new blogs by each of Shooting Illustrated’s editors are proving to be one of GunsandHunting.com’s most popular new additions, with readers being subjected to ruminations and breaking news on a daily basis. Videos include American Guardian Television host Chad Adams voluntarily getting tazed, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Taurus Judge watermelon video, interviews from the SHOT Show and trigger time with a suppressed, fully automatic submachine gun.
Shooting Illustrated’s www.GunsandHunting.com is the Internet’s Definitive Destination for the Modern Shooter.
Now, I’m not so sure about that ‘fame’ bit, but it’s an honor to have a chance to play in the sandbox with the crew at GunsAndHunting. There are a lot of good writers there, and I’ve been linking to many of their stories and will continue to do so.
Be sure to check it out when you get a chance.
