911 tape of child shooting released
A 6-year-old girl remains in critical condition after accidentally being shot by her 8-year-old brother at their grandparents’ home in Tallmadge Township, Michigan. Authorities have released tapes of the 911 call
“I have a gun shot wound at 2036…” Steve Larson, the kids’ grandfather, told authorities over the phone as he struggled to stay calm and get help for his granddaughter Zara. Larson says he was outside his home when the shooting occurred.
Larson – “Please come immediately.”
Dispatcher – “Tell me what happened.”
Larson – “I don’t know.”
Dispatcher – “Was she shot?”
Larson – “Yes.”

Airmen in Gillie Suits
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Matt Sleeper and Staff Sgt. Curtis Huffman demonstrate how to use gillie suits to blend into their surroundings while setting up surveillance for insurgent activity at Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, Nov. 14, 2007. The Airmen are part of a team of close precision engagement snipers from the 506th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron who train to target enemy snipers attacking U.S. and coalition forces in the area. Again, the best anti-sniper weapon in the world is a marksman with a good rifle.

National Ammo Day
Tomorrow is National Ammo Day. Buy 100 rounds for each firearm you own. Or more.
Additional NAD coverage:

The lamestream media told you:
Nothing, and will not cover the planning or results.
Instapundit: Hey, get some Chinese-made ammo and at least it’ll be something that’s supposed to contain lead!
XM8 Rifle
I haven’t pointed it out here previously, but if you’re interested in one of the rifles currently testing in dust and sand conditions against the M4 carbine, check out my 2004 post on the XM8 assault rifle over at Murdoc Online.
It’s the all-time most popular post at MO.
Why “The People” Should Be Armed
NJ law prohibits firearms that have too many things in common with an assault weapon, and since the people writing the law didn’t know how firearms work, they based their law on cosmetic features. These have laughingly come to be known in the gun community as the “evil features” that make a good gun into a bad one, even though they don’t actually change anything about how the firearm works.

NortheastShooters.com
I happened across this forum recently and it looks to be a decent resource, particularly for folks in the northeast: Northeastshooters.com.
2A Blog Bash
SayUncle points out the Second Amendment Blog Bash planned for next May’s NRA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
The convention runs May 16-18.
Louisville is within driving distance for Murdoc, and this is just yet another reason for me to attend the convention. A number of gun bloggers are already planning to be there.
Sign up for the 2A Blog Bash email newsletter to stay in the loop. GunPundit will also be mentioning the event from time to time whether or not I manage to get myself there.
