Latest in a trend: A pizza deliveryman told Des Moines police that he shot a man who robbed him at gunpoint when he delivered a pie late Thursday to a south-side address.
A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman ordered the pizza and, when the pizza guy arrived, the man put a gun to his head and robbed him. The pizza guy managed to get the man’s gun away from him, then pulled his own gun and shot him.
Restaurant officials have suspended the Pizza Hut driver, James William Spiers, while the case is under investigation. Polk County officials today confirmed that Spiers holds a valid gun permit, which was renewed in November.
As usual, the pizza guy is in trouble for defending himself while getting robbed:
Vonnie Walbert, vice president of human resources at Pizza Hut, said:
“We have policy against carrying weapons. We prohibit employees from carrying guns because we believe that that is the safest for everybody.”
Walbert said Pizza Hut trains employees to report such incidences to police.
Spiers called police after the wounded suspect fled.

Rustmeister: Ronnie G. Barrett, Man of Principle
Here is the letter Mr. Barrett sent to the chief of the Honolulu Police Department in response to said department’s push to ban the .50 caliber rifle.
Money (as in $$$) quote from the letter:
If Hawaii or any state bans the sale of the .50-caliber rifle, we will immediately stop the sale and service of all Barrett products to that state’s government agencies.
Kim du Toit says Tit For Tat.
There are so many crimes and drive-by gangland shootings with .50 caliber weapons, you know. And something needs to be done about the rising numbers of accidental deaths from .50 caliber mishaps in the home.
It’s for the kids.

Rummell’s dug up some old (1920s old) catalog pages from the Pacific Arms Corporation, and one of the more interesting items is what they call a “Poison Gas Pistol.”
Looks like three barrels for three shots. And it sounds like the “poison gas” is really some sort of tear gas, as Rummell points out.
More pages, and links to the rest, here.

Sebastian has a list and links to all the Philadelphia gun control bills that have recently passed out of committee.
Keep in mind that all of these laws are in violation of the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Gun controllers don’t let pesky laws or constitutional amendments get in their way.
