Obama’s ongoing gun control jackassery

August 29th, 2008

Obama

Althouse noted this Obama quotefrom last night’s big shindig:

We can keep AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.

All right, then! Can I have an AK-47? I’m not a criminal. He’s trying to say we can accommodate gun rights and gun regulations, but he won’t admit to anything near the level of gun regulation he’d support, so he ends up sounding silly.

Sweet! I’ve got myself a semi-auto WASR-10, but I’m looking forward to getting my real-life AK-47 if Obama wins in November.

What? You mean that he didn’t mean gun control applied only to criminals?

Then why did he say it that way? Didn’t he know someone might not understand what he is really pushing for? I’m sure he didn’t mean for that to happen.

Man shot in buttocks while walking down street

August 29th, 2008

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD)

Police are searching for a suspect that shot a man in the buttocks on a Grand Rapids street.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of E. Fulton St.

The victim claims he was walking down the street when he was shot in the buttocks. So far police don’t have a description of the suspect, but they tell 24 Hour News 8 that the vicitm is being very uncooperative.

The victim is “being very uncooperative”? Sound like he wasn’t a random victim just minding his own business.

Veritas Mark IV in Denver

August 25th, 2008

Here are a couple of new photos from the fun in Denver:

A police officer holds a machine gun along the route of the ‘Recreate 68′ march near the site of the Democratic Convention in Denver, Colorado, USA on 24 August 2008. The protesters are calling their movement ‘Recreate 68′ referring to the tumultuous 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago

“Machine gun”!

I pointed out the plan to use the Veritas Mark IV during the convention a couple of months ago.

‘If that is his baby, he needs help’

August 25th, 2008

Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden:

Rand Simberg:

Obama has a problem because he professes support for the Second Amendment, as long as it doesn’t actually nullify any gun laws. So you’d think he’d not have picked a running mate who gets an “F” from the NRA. This isn’t going to help him with the bitter gun clingers.

Toy Gun Trade-In

August 22nd, 2008

toy_gun_trade-in.jpg

A queue of children wait to exchange their toy guns for non-weapon-like toys as part of a government project to reduce violence in the area, in the Petare district of Caracas, Venezuela, August 20, 2008. REUTERS/Susana Gonzalez

Note that the toy “gun” of the second kid in the picture is not a toy gun at all but a few pieces of wood, a pipe, and some black tape. Meaning, this buyback program appears to be as effective as all the other buyback programs. Even the toy guns they collect are generally worthless toy guns.
