Frisco win

Snowflakes in Hell: The City of San Francisco has lost its appeal to get its gun ban reinstated.

Take that hippies! It would seem preemption, at least, is alive and well in The Golden State.

and scores an Instalanche.

Glenn Reynolds calls it a “Civil Rights victory,” which is exactly what it is. The fact that so many don’t see these sorts of things as civil rights issues merely demonstrates how effectively the anti-gun types, with the active assistance of Legacy Media, have defined the terms of the debate.

Part of the NRA’s statement on the decision:

In 2005, NRA sought an injunction against the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to prevent them from enacting one of the nation’s most restrictive gun bans. NRA won the injunction, but the City’s mayor and Board of Supervisors ignored the court order and approved a set of penalties, including a $1,000 fine and a jail term of between 90 days and six months, for city residents who own firearms for lawful purposes in their own homes.

The argument that criminals merely ignore gun laws and do what they want is, obviously, valid. So how about mayors and boards of supervisors who ignore court decisions and do what they want? Don’t they risk getting lumped in with the criminals who flaunt the law?

More Hello Kitty

I previously linked to a pink “Hello Kitty” AR, but here it is before assembly:

Go check out the owner’s site for a larger picture and some great discussion of the California legality of the weapon (it is fine). Plus, as a bonus, this:

WTF? Guns for kids. How the hell is this a good thing. Do you really want your kids thinking guns are fashion accessories. Well this is REALLY clever. Get rid of guns, nobodys going to invade you, and if nobody has guns then who do you have to shoot.

Smert feller, there.

Would-be presidential assassin out on parole

gerald ford sara jane moore

Over at MichiBlogger:

Sara Jane Moore, who took a shot at President Ford in a 1975 assass- ination attempt, was released from prison Monday.

She was 45 when she tried to kill Ford and has served 32 years of a life sentence. Here are some details from the Strib:

Moore was 40 feet away from Ford outside a hotel in San Francisco when she fired a shot at him on Sept. 22, 1975. As she raised her .38-caliber revolver and pulled the trigger, Oliver Sipple, a disabled former Marine standing next to her, pushed up her arm. The bullet flew over Ford’s head by several feet.

Moore had been picked up earlier in the day by police and Secret Service agents because she had made a phoned threat. They took her .45-caliber pistol, charged her with carrying a concealed weapon and released her. She promptly bought another weapon from a gun dealer and waited for Ford in the crowd outside the St. Francis Hotel.

Moore was a rather bizarre woman who claims to have believed that Conservatives had declared war on the Left:

“I was functioning, I think, purely on adrenaline and not thinking clearly. I have often said that I had put blinders on and I was only listening to what I wanted to hear,” she said a year ago in an interview with KGO-TV.

At least there’s no one like that around today.

UPDATE: The .38-caliber gun that Moore “promptly bought” after her .45 (.44 in some accounts I’ve read) was taken by authorities was purchased from a friend according to this story in the LA Times.

Self Defense in Fresno

Man Shoots Another in Self Defense

Saw this story about the shooting of a man who, demanding to see his baby, pulled a gun on the mom and threatened to shoot her. Notice this bit at the end:

Police say the suspect had just been released from prison was deported to Mexico, but returned to the U.S.

Ex-con and illegal alien pulling gun on a woman. Gonna get you shot. Even in California.

Nice to know the borders are so secure. (via CGSDB)

More info and videos of the travesty in September here.

I’m not familiar with the group or the events, but videos at the site show the typical commie crap as they disrupt a joint 9/11 memorial gathering of the San Francisco college Democrat and Republican clubs on the campus of SFSU.

They’ve even posted rules for protesters. Too bad the commie protesters aren’t so civil.

911 Hacker sends SWAT on bogus raid

Get book. Throw it. Repeat.

Washington man accused of faking emergency call that sent armed response to unsuspecting Lake Forest family’s home.

On March 29 at 11:30 p.m., authorities allege, Randall Ellis, a 19-year-old from Mukilteo, Wash., hacked into the [Orange County California’s] 911 system from his home and placed a false emergency call, prompting a fully armed response to the home of an unsuspecting couple that could have ended tragically.

Thinking that a prowler was roaming his back yard, a resident of the home, identified only as Doug B. in the district attorney’s complaint filed in court, walked outside with a kitchen knife as SWAT officers from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department waited with assault rifles.

Authorities do not believe this is the first time the suspect has done this.

Ellis is expected to appear in an Orange County courtroom Monday to face charges of computer access and fraud, false imprisonment by violence, falsely reporting a crime and assault with an assault weapon by proxy.

That’s gonna leave a mark.

Now that I think about this, I’m surprised that it hasn’t happened more often. It’s apparently a growing trend known as “SWATting”.
